What do you love about the Tommy Gun’s network?

It’s a young team of enthusiastic like-minded individuals that are working as a great team to get the job done. Successful people breed success and we definitely have a lot of those at TG Head office.

How does the Tommy Gun’s business model fit in with your lifestyle?

Tommy Gun’s is the 3rd franchise model I have been with in the past 15 years (Boost Juice and Price Attack). It is by far the most manageable of the 3 and the ability to multi-site them in quick succession is fairly easy.

What is the most rewarding part of being a Tommy Gun’s business owner?

The consistency of turnover without any seasonality is very rewarding and also the type of people we attract as employees are fun and exciting people to be around.

What is your most memorable moment since becoming a Tommy Gun’s business owner?

At Chermside we have a 36 hours trade over Christmas and we were turning away customers at 2am as we could not keep up with the demand. It appeals to people at any day or time. I remember it well and I’m staffing it up next Christmas as I was exhausted but also exhilarated at the end of our first Christmas trade.

What excites you about the future of the Tommy Gun’s business?

The fact that we can be so profitable within 6 months of opening is just amazing and once we mould and trim costs to suit the business whilst still growing the turnover. We will have people lining up not only for haircuts but also to buy my business one day. Ultimately, you go into business to make a profit and I’m confident of that at Tommy Gun’s and I hope we can continue to enjoy it as much as we have along the way. I’m looking forward to seeing Tommy Gun’s in the fastest growing franchises list soon.

Why did you decide to become a Tommy Gun’s business owner?

We decided to become a Tommy Gun’s business owner because we liked the concept of a full service barbershop that provides the customer with the total grooming experience. In recent years Barbershops have made a resurgence however the difference between Tommy Guns and the rest is the “total experience”.

What do you love about the Tommy Gun’s network?

Being one of the first owners we agreed to share the weekly results of the business with the other Tommy Gun’s owners. It has been a steep learning curve over the first 6 months however the sharing of information including staff performance and product performance has enabled us to identify best practice standards and strive to achieve them.

How does the Tommy Gun’s business model fit in with your lifestyle?

Our Tommy Gun’s business is not a difficult business to run. Establishing the appropriate staff and setting business KPI’s has enabled it to be operated under management most of the time. Ultimately this business, once mature, should be able to provide a good return on investment and therefore provide for a comfortable lifestyle.

What is the most rewarding part of being a Tommy Gun’s business owner?

Seeing 350 - 400 clients per week enjoying the Tommy Gun’s experience, and seeing the staff enjoy performing their trade on a daily basis.

What is your most memorable moment since becoming a Tommy Gun’s business owner?

Our first customer checked in for an Original Cut, but also bought about $180 worth of shaving, skin care and hair care products. From this moment on I become convinced the business would work well.

What excites you about the future of the Tommy Gun’s business?

The fact that the Barber trade has made a resurgence in recent years and TAFE Colleges have reintroduced dedicated Barber training. This will result in having more staff to choose from and increase staff productivity levels in the months and years to come. The business has exceeded all budgets in the first 6 months and its popularity with the customers is indicated by a large “returning client ratio”.
